GEORGE TOWN: A 54-year-old man was found dead on a pile of rocks underneath the Penang Bridge here after jumping off the bridge on Thursday (Sept 5).
George Town OCPD Asst Comm Che Zaimani Che Awang said police found the man’s car with a handwritten note of his address at KM5.4 of the bridge heading towards the island at 12.01 on Friday (Sept 6).
« The man was a prison sergeant, and was married with four children in Sungai Petani, Kedah.
« According to interviews with prison officials, he was receiving treatment at the Sungai Petani Hospital and was given a two-day MC until Sept 4.
« The man also told his colleagues that he suffered from gastric pain and had trouble sleeping at night, » he said.
ACP Che Zaimani said the body has been sent to the Penang Hospital for postmortem.
